Hannah Hiam, LMSW

Psychotherapist

She/her

Hannah brings a warm, relational, and collaborative approach to therapy, informed by her background in education, healthcare, and clinical social work. She began her career as a fourth-grade teacher in Bedford-Stuyvesant, where she developed a deep understanding of the emotional needs of children and the importance of strong relationships in supporting growth and resilience. She later worked as a Program Coordinator at iBrain, a school for children with traumatic brain injuries, gaining experience supporting individuals with complex medical, developmental, and psychosocial needs.

Hannah earned her Master of Social Work from Yeshiva University and currently works at an NYU Langone family health clinic, where she provides therapy to both adults and children. Her clinical interests include trauma, substance use and addiction, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, and adjustment-related concerns. She completed a year-long fellowship in integrative substance use treatment, which included advanced training alongside psychiatric fellows at Bellevue Hospital, and she is a member of her clinic’s Co-Occurring Disorders team.

Hannah is currently completing certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to further support her work with children and adolescents. In addition to her clinical work, she facilitates support groups addressing antisemitism in collaboration with the Jewish Mental Health Initiative.

In her work with clients, Hannah integrates CBT, DBT, self-compassion, psychodynamic, and supportive approaches. Therapy with Hannah is thoughtful, supportive, and collaborative, with a focus on understanding each client’s story, building insight, and developing practical tools that support lasting change and emotional balance.
